Help & trust
Everything you need to know about booking safely on Corralejo Living. We're a connection platform — read this page before transacting.
For guests
How do I avoid scams?
+
Golden rule: never send money outside of Corralejo Living. Always use the in-platform payment button. Any host asking for a bank transfer, cash deposit, Bizum, PayPal, Revolut or any other off-platform payment is a major red flag — report them immediately to trust@corralejoliving.com.
Other warning signs:
- The price is way below market.
- The host refuses video calls, photos with a date, or location proof.
- The conversation moves to WhatsApp / Telegram very quickly with urgency.
- Stock-looking photos, no reviews, very new account.
Am I covered if something goes wrong?
+
Corralejo Living is a connection platform, not a tour operator or insurer. We do not guarantee the property, the activity or the service. You remain solely responsible for your own due diligence and for taking out travel insurance covering cancellation, accident, theft and medical issues.
That said, we do offer:
- Encrypted in-platform payments with Stripe.
- Refunds via Stripe according to each listing's cancellation policy.
- A claims/dispute system for reviews.
- Active removal of confirmed fraudulent listings.
See our Terms of Service for the full picture.
What happens if my host cancels at the last minute?
+
If the host cancels a confirmed and paid booking, Stripe refunds the full amount to your original payment method (usually within 5–10 business days). We do not provide rehousing or compensation — that's why travel insurance is recommended.
The property doesn't match the photos / listing.
+
Contact the host first through the in-platform chat. If the issue isn't resolved within 24 hours, email trust@corralejoliving.com with photos and a description. We'll investigate and may remove the listing, but we cannot guarantee a refund — that depends on the host's cancellation policy and Stripe dispute outcome.
Why does the host's full contact info only appear after I pay?
+
To protect both parties from spam, fraud and off-platform circumvention, full contact details (phone, WhatsApp, exact address) are revealed only once a booking is confirmed and payment is received.
How are fees calculated?
+
A 2% secure-booking fee is added to your total at checkout. This covers fraud prevention, support and payment processing. The full breakdown is displayed before you confirm.
For hosts
Do I need a touristic licence to list a property?
+
Yes. In the Canary Islands, short-term rentals require a "Vivienda Vacacional" (VV) registration. It is your sole responsibility to obtain and maintain the relevant licence and to comply with local zoning, tax and safety regulations. Corralejo Living does not verify licences and cannot be held liable for unauthorised rentals.
Who is responsible for taxes?
+
You are. Income earned through bookings is your responsibility to declare to the Spanish tax authority (AEAT) and your local town hall (IGIC, tourist tax where applicable).
How do I get paid?
+
Connect your Stripe account in your dashboard. Once a guest pays, the funds are transferred to your Stripe balance and paid out according to your Stripe schedule (usually 2–7 days). Our 3% host fee is deducted automatically.
What if a guest damages my property?
+
Corralejo Living does not provide a damage guarantee. You should collect a security deposit (we support deposits in listings), take inventory photos, and consider host insurance. Disputes are between you and the guest.
Can I cancel a confirmed booking?
+
You can, but repeated cancellations damage your reputation and may lead to listing suspension. Refunds to the guest will be issued in line with your cancellation policy.
Trust & safety
What checks do you do on hosts?
+
We run a claim verification process when a host registers a listing they didn't create (proof of ownership/management). We do not verify identity documents, licences, or property ownership at scale — please do not assume a listing is "verified" by us. See Terms for the full disclaimer.
How do you handle personal data?
+
See our Privacy Policy. We are GDPR compliant, host data in the EU, and never sell your data.
How do I report something suspicious?
+
Email trust@corralejoliving.com with the listing URL, screenshots and any context. We act quickly on credible reports.
